Which 500gb 7200 hard drive for my T410?

#1 Post by albo » Tue Dec 21, 2010 12:03 am

Hi Folks,

I might have to get myself a new 500GB 7200 rpm drive for my T410. Are there any that work particularly well with the T410, or they all about the same?

thanks,
allie

I might suggest the Momentus XT. It's a 500GB hard drive with a 4GB flash drive attached. It will offer faster boot times and applications will launch quicker unless you're on a strict budget.

I'd prefer the 500GB Scorpio Black, those specs look awesome.

I can build my own flash/DDR3 read cache using eBoostr anyway.
There's pros to doing it manually:
1) RAM cache infinitely faster than NAND cache.
2) You can expand the NAND cache by just buying a larger SD card.
3) If your NAND cache wears out, just replace the SD.
4) You can actually defrag the drive properly.
