Display cold damage? Need quick advice!
Display cold damage? Need quick advice!
Hello,
my X60s just returned from the repair center. First thing I notice are dark green spots in the middle of the screen. Looks like as if glue got behind the screen.
I called up the repair center, they say it must be a transport damage, since they didnt do anything with the diplay.
Believing that I checked the box it went from my house and came back in - no visible damage. Also the outer side of the screen shows nothing. So only possibility is a cold damage, since its -10 °C here at night at the moment. Is that possible? But shouldt the damage be all over the screen then, not just in the middle?
What shall I do next? I am thinking of just sending the laptop straight in again. Please help!
Martin

Sounds like shipping damage...you need to file a claim. Good luck collecting however.

I would make pictures of it first, so you have evidence

Is a cold damage under those circumstances possible? If yes - would it look like those green dots?
What are the temperature limits for storage and operation for the x60s display?

storage temperature should be good to at least - 20 degrees Celsius. I think operating temperature has to be above 0.

Re: Display cold damage? Need quick advice!
That sounds like a cold damage is quite unlikely - we max out at about -15 °C here at night.
Can anyone confirm that? Is there a spec sheet for the display anywhere that lists those figures?

Why does it matter?
You received the machine back from the repair center and there is a problem. It's not your concern if the problem was caused in transit or during the repair. It wasn't caused by you - you need it fixed - send it back.
