Hello, my ThinkPad T40 laptop, the screen randomly goes black. (I can still see the windows, but it is very hard to see) The only way to fix it temporary is to push Fn+F7. But this only works sometimes. So, I did some Googleing and found this article on how to replace the inverter. <Admin note: removed link>
Could someone who maybe has had this problem tell me if it is the right fix? I will probably just get the inverter off ebay and use that to replace it with.
Admin edit: I clicked on the link provided and it launched a false spyware notice so I saved the link for further analysis and removed it. The URL is based at laptoprepair101<dot>com. The page runs a Javascript routine that goes to www1.top-only-master.in.

Re: Replacing the screen inverter
I would try the inverter, CCFL (backlight), LCD cable, and systemboard(or repair a loose GPU) in that order. I'd bet it is a bad CCFL, but the inverter is a possibility and is the cheapest part to try.
