SOLD IBM T30 type 2366-85U **Bad LCD** with port replicator

#1 Post by RRHODY » Sat Dec 25, 2010 6:48 pm

IBM T30 type 2366-85U S/N 99-TXFT5

From the web site:

Product: ThinkPad T30 2366-85U [change]
Operating system: All [change]

Original description: P4-M 1.8GHz (512KB), 256MB RAM, 40.0GB HDD, 14.1 XGA(1024x768) TFT LCD, 8x-3.3x DVD-ROM, Cisco 802.11b wireless(MPCI), Modem(CDC), Ethernet(LOM), UltraNav, Secure Chip(TCPA), Li-Ion battery, WinXP Pro

The unit has a bad LCD, no display but a faint glow; works just fine with an external display. Boots to BIOS and has two (2) 256 RAM modules; both work, but one is held under pressure. The case and keyboard are probably slightly above average for this age unit with no scratches or cracks in the plastic and a slight shine on the space bar. There is a 24X CD ROM – but no hard drive; however the cover is in place. No AC Adapter, but there is a battery – condition unknown, but there is a steady green light which I suppose means it has taken a full charge.

Included is a port replicator FRU 02K8668 [ThinkPad A, R, T, and X Series Port Replicator] with everything working [that’s how the unit was used].

I’ll put it in a USPS flat rate box and mail it to any US ZIP for a total of $25.00. If it isn’t worth that to anyone, then it goes to recycle.

I was hoping somebody could make good use of this T30 - can $25.00 be too much for what appears to be a good battery, keyboard, and case PLUS a port replicator. All that and mailing cost of $11.40 included?

It just needs a new backlight on the LCD then or is the video chip toast? Do the T30's use the same screens as the T20/23 (I have a spare 14.1" backlight for one if it does)?

If it just needs a backlight I will take it.

The screens are different, but they can use the same CCFL.

So it sounds like it needs a new CCFL or is there a problem with the video chip?

I don't think there's a problem with the video chip since it displays fine on an external monitor.
