Possible to upgrade T410i to i5 processor?

#1 Post by jaspen-meyer » Tue Dec 28, 2010 7:57 pm

Is it possible to upgrade to replace my i3-370m with an i5-560M?

I'd like to have access to the turbo-boost feature.

Unless I'm mistaken, it's a BGA package and thus not socketed.

according to this you can remove the CPU, where did you see that the T series use a BGA CPU?

Oh dear.

You're right. I was far too casual in my reading of Intel's specs.! lead_org is correct -- the T410 does appear to use a socketed CPU. The i5-560M is available with both BGA1288 and PGA988 sockets.

the cpu will fit in the socket (it seems) but will the turbo boost feature be available?

I am using a T410i with Core i5 430-M. HWinfo32 says that it has Turbo Boost features. Assuming using the same board, i think T410i is upgradeable to i5 though. Chipset is QM57.
