RAM upgrade on 600E:

#1 Post by In_Correct » Wed Dec 29, 2010 11:56 pm

How many slots are in the 600E, and what is the maximum possible expansion with the 600E, and also what type of RAM chips do I need to install?

Two slots, maximum of 544MB or 416MB (depending on model), PC100 low density modules.

There's 32MB permanently mounted on the motherboard. Two slots are available for standard 144 pin SODIMMs. Depending upon the model, you can either install two 256MB modules or one 128MB and one 256MB. They must be of the low density version. Those types of modules can be identified by the number of individual memory chips contained thereon. A 128MB low density module will have 8 components. A 256MB low density module has 16 parts.
