Hey everyone... wow, been almost three years since I was last on here!
Anyway, I picked up a W500 with the WUXGA screen, T9600, 4GB, blah blah blah. The screen is SO DIM. With these teeny little pixels, brightness would really help.
According to the laptop, I am on the highest brightness level... my friend's T400 is easily 3x as bright. Anyone have any idea what's going on?
Thanks!
New WUXGA W500... is the screen really this bad?

Search the W500 and maybe the entire board; seems I vaguely recall some screen issues encountered when the W500 hit the public.

Check the Tabook. You will notice in the specifications that WUXGA screen in T/W500's are significantly less bright than their WSXGA, etc. counterpart. I just traded my T500 + WUXGA in for a new W510 with Full HD 1080p screen. It's much, much brighter and the 95% color gamut is awesome!!

Well, I guess I should've done my homework, huh? I checked it against my dad's work W500 and you are indeed right.
A friend of mine who can see better than me is going to trade me a T400 with a 1440x900 screen and a T9400 plus a Phenom II X4 rig for it. I guess that;s a good deal; it sucks though because I LOVE this computer. 14" Thinkpads seem too small for me for some reason.
