Bluetooth Works but Tray Icon not Green

#1 Post by malibu91 » Sat Jan 01, 2011 7:52 am

Hi Guys,

I am happy to have my Logitech mouse and Nokia phone working on my T60 via the internal Bluetooth. For some reason however the Bluetooth tray icon does not change from white to green when connected. In fact it is always white?

I have a friend with an identical T60 running XP and the icon does change colour when my mouse is connected?

I have updated to the latest drivers.
Any ideas please, or is this possibly an issue specific to T60's and Win7 32bit?

Thanks
Jules

Giday Jules....
Happy 2011 :Nice: ,,,, Bluetooth eyh... !
There are Two Sets of info re BT in T6x's ,,,,,,depending on (model + YEAR; eg 2007; 2008 models are slightly different in config....)1)
BT drivers for Xppro; are little diff to Win7 also,,,,,
2) Lenovo drivers for BT = has an added driver to download and install in XP pro ; the part of 'enhanch. rate for BT etc) here is that link= http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-61425
3) AFAIK the BT driver in Win7= via MS (loaded@os install) and not any Lenovo 'additions' (like in XP)

I noticed the same 'feature' when I was in past a regualr user of T60/61p machines - and it didnt bother me after reliasing above - and it worked well!

Also as a suggestion; I would highly recommend not use any of the "thinkVantage' software/apps - most of these are older Lenovo/IBM apps and often cause conflicts with 'newer' windows drivers. For me- I never use them and first thing I do for every new laptop = UNINSTALL ALL of them! However, i keep a few of these... as there no windows equivalants eg- Fingureprint software, Hotkey+ Power Manager. The "HOTKEY+PM" gives you the ability to see those nice (cute bars) Graphic displays of volume etc etc.
SO only thing I use = SYSTEM UPDATE app which is here and that works nicely for all driver updates....

Hope this helps ,,,,
Cheers

G'Day back Mike!

Yep I have been to the Lenovo site and downloaded the enhanced drivers and installed, but still no change. I also agree with your points about the ThinkVantage updates. Really seems like bloat-ware to me.

Hmm maybe this is just a Win7 thing?

No one else ever experienced this. Kinda makes the icon useless really?

Try changing your desktop "theme" and see if that changes the icon colour display behaviour.... there were reports of some interactions between the behaviour of tray/taksbar icons and dekstop themes when W7 first came out (usually due to issues with the application/driver associated with the icon concerned) and you may have discovered another of those.
