Reading of all these problems posted has got me reluctant to install any driver updates. :?

Better wait till I finish my projects before I start tinkering around with my laptop.

G-man, I tried everthing I could: right-click "disable", "unistall", you name it, but I keep running into the same problem. I'm told I have to restart for the changes to take effect, but when it restarts Windows 'detects new hardware' and reinstalls it . . . and not with the new driver (4.0), but with the old one (2.4.1.12). I was able to 'update' the driver in the WLAN properties (where you can update, roll-back, uninstall, etc.), but when I got back into the IBM Software Installer, it showed the old driver still active and I'm still unable to remove it. Is this going to be a registry 'fix'? Any more clues?

Updated/New IBM ThinkPad Software Installer

I just downloaded the latest version of the Software Installer (PkgMgr.exe) which is release 3.10.0504

This one seems to work fine for me.

Don't know if this release of the code was in response to the problems that I was having or not.

Either way thanks to Lenovo/IBM for sorting it.

I don't want to give you a big head or anything Dave, but the answer to your question is Yes!

Man, have I been behind on the times. Just noticed this software installer today.

Worked like a charm, thank god. I even let it update my BIOS.

I always get tense when I have to do that.

So far so good though. Nothing missed a beat...

I've always deleted the C:\drivers and C:\ibmtools directories after I've installed the downloaded drivers. Is this the source for the check of the correct drivers? Do I have to redownload everything to get the software installer to work correctly in the future? Thanks.

Doug
