Missing CD / DVD burning software

#1 Post by tpribors » Sat Jan 01, 2011 10:44 am

The scanning project is going well. The 500GB HDD is getting full and I've decided on an archiving scheme. TIFFs and JPGs will be burned to a DVD (CDs are too small), and the JPGs will stay on the HDD for cataloging.

So I went to burn the DVD and poof - no burning software. Where is Roxio? It might not be the best but it was better than nothing. My wife's SL410 which came last week and I'm setting up now does have it.

I burned the backup CD/DVD and did a restore onto another HDD and the Roxio stuff isn't there so I'm sure I didn't accidentally delete it when I was cleaning up...

An alternative is Nero...it is free and a much smaller download.

CDBurnerXP

Small file size. Easy drag and drop operation.

Love it :)

Thanks. What's the difference between the Business and Small Business versions? I'm sure it's features, but this seems to be an older version without much info at the Roxio site

Never really paid attention to the feature differences since the small business edition was licensed for Thinkpads I did not have - ThinkPad SL300, SL400, SL500, L410. So the answer to your question is, I do not know.

Yeah, I just looked at my wife's SL410 and it has small bus with DVD. That's what I'll put on the W510 so things are consistent.

What is corel burn.now

#9 Post by tpribors » Mon Jan 03, 2011 5:55 pm

Yesterday I put a hard drive into the ultra bay to copy some pictures. It had a .iso image that showed an icon. I double clicked it to see what came up.

It looks like Roxio has been replaced by "Corel burn.now" software. I haven't tried it yet.
