T60p replacement LCD now showing Bios setup

#1 Post by tds » Sat Jan 01, 2011 3:16 pm

I replaced the LCD on my T60p with one from Ebay. Not sure who the manufacturer is but it works fine.

Just recently went to modify some BIOS Settings and notice that when entering the BIOS setup using F1 during bootup, that the BIOS setup doesn't show up on the LCD. When I hit Fn+F7 a few times it does show up but doesn't refresh as when I move up or down with the arrows on the keyboard the highlighted selection doesn't change until I cycle through Fn+F7 again. Need to do this each time I enter a key stroke.

Doing this I was able to select VGA as the display and reboot with a VGA monitor attached, where I the bios setup display works fine on the VGA.

Is there some thing I need to flash to have my new LCD show the BIOS setup screen? I read some things about EDID information on a ROM in some LCD's.

Thanks for any help.

All I can guess is that some of the EDID settings (like how it works at lower resolution) are wrong.

Thats my thought too. Have to do some reading up on how to determine what the correct settings are and how to modify them.
