Question for those using 2nd hdd in ultrabay

I'm moving to ssd + ultrabay hdd setup and want the ultrabay hdd to be inactive when on battery power. If Power Manager is set to spin down a drive after x amount of time, will the hdd spin down even if I'm using the ssd?

I have my HDD set to spin down at 3 mins. There is an option for 30 sec also but I chose 3 min. The hard drive is open to spin up whenever a program needs info from it. I have found that if you install a program to that ultrabay drive the spin will be more frequent regardless of the spin down timer. I have stopped installing programs on my HDD and just use it for videos, music, documents, pictures, and "knick knack" files. Those files will not cause the HDD to spin unless I access it to watch a movie, listen to music, etc.
