What size is the HDD security screw

#1 Post by Lammo » Mon Jan 03, 2011 2:09 am

for a T43 (2687DEU if it matters)? I managed to lose the screw while putting in a bigger hard drive and I don't really want to buy the whole screw kit to replace one little screw. Any help is appreciated. Thanks and Happy New Year!

Mark

Hi Mark

I thought it would be simply a matter of pointing you to the relevant page in the Hardware Maintenance Manual, but it describes it as "HDD Screw"!

The Screw is a large headed M2.5 x 4mm - ie 2.5mm dia and 4mm long (thread length).

Refer to this document, unfortunately it doesn't show the HDD screw but the one I'm referring to is on Page 4, section 8, it's the far left side screw.

Thanks Nick. That's what I was looking for. I have the Hardware Maintenance Manual and think it's odd that the parts list describes the size of all of the other screws but not that one. Thanks again.

If all else fails, you can remove one of the inner HD-caddy screws and use that.
They are the same size (but not dark-colored).
