can i connect a 23inch wide (external)to a T400 14.1.

Is this possible? Will my Mobile Intel(R) 4 Series Express Chipset Family run it at 1920 x 1080 resolution? I looked at the screen resolution properties (right click, screen resolution) and it seems to only go up to 1680 x 1050 so i don't want to buy a 23inch widescreen if i can't run it at full resolution.
