Specs: ThinkPad T410, 2516CTO, Win 7 Pro 64-bit, discrete graphics, nVidia DirectX version 11.0, Graphics card information (components): NVS3100M, 1440 x 900
I use the High Contrast Black theme with some minor modifications. The main feature of this scheme is that backgrounds are black and text is white.
I've had my machine for seven months but have only recently noticed -- possibly due to a change of reading glasses but I'm not sure -- that some letters/numbers are displayed not only in white but with other colours in them.
For example, I'm using Firefox. This page's url shows toward the top of the screen. None of the letters/numbers are simply white. The number, 1, the most obviously coloured, looks more red than white to the naked eye. But all of the other letters are similarly coloured and include light green and light red pixels, also obvious to the naked eye.
This colouration also occurs in other programs. It seems to occur mostly/only in the top inch or two of the screen.
Is this a hardware fault? Software? Both? Is it even a fault or just a characteristic of the display? I can live with it but sometimes it's quite distracting.

Probably just ClearType: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ClearType
Or dispersion of 'white' light by your glasses.
