9-cell lithium-ion battery (7800mAh) for T61p

#1 Post by eiffelt61p » Sat Jan 08, 2011 3:53 pm

Hello,

I plan to buy a 9-cell lithium-ion battery (7800mAh) for T61p.

The last one i bought, was a 9 cells 7800mah compatible, but not a genuine Lenovo / IBM battery.I works about less than one year (10 months) and now i have to replace it.

Can you advise me in selecting a new battery ?

What is an OEM battery ? Is it the same as simple compatible battery as i have ?

Are genuine Lenovo Battery better than just compatible ?

If you know a good place ti buy (europe, asia or USA) i will be happy to know :)

regards

An Original Equipment Manufacturer, or OEM, manufactures products or components that are purchased by a company and retailed under the purchasing company's brand name.
OEM refers to the company that originally manufactured the product.

Chinese knock-offs are generally considered a no-no for Thinkpads.
Look for originals only.
Currently there's an excellent option in our Marketforum from underclocker: http://forum.thinkpads.com/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=92802
I would buy from him in a heartbeat!

I've had zero luck with aftermarket batteries. I hate to pay the price of a genuine IBM/Lenovo battery but its the only way I've found to get one that lasts more than 1 year.

Be careful because batteries for 14" wide and (15.4" wide + 14.1" standard screen) are not compatible.

Because yours is a "p" model, I guess that it is either 15.4" wide or 14.1" standard. If that, it's battery is compatible with T60 standard screen or T500.

In Europe, the price is higher, but you will pay less for shipping (and tax ?). Here is a similar forum in German and I feel people there are reliable too:
