X31 Crash with Flash

#1 Post by Snort » Sat Jan 08, 2011 4:25 pm

I'm running Windows 7 on an X31, and only one repeating problem. If I try to run a flash video at full screen, I get blue screen/death. Today I installed Boxee, and it also crashes while the program is loading, and before I can get any video display out of it.

My display device is listed as ATI MOBILITY RADEON

My video driver is:

ATI
6.14.10.6457

Update search claims I am using the latest driver.
I believe I used the Vista driver from the Lenovo website, which allowed me to enable sleep funtion which is working just fine.

Any advice would be appreciated.

edit: Looks like I used the XP driver, and I may have let Windows upgrade it at some point.

Well, that definitely did not work. BSOD before the installer loaded. Tracked down the driver on my hard drive which the extracting utility was able to create, and W7 would not let me install it, claiming hardware incompatibility.

i put windows 7 on 3 x32's and windows stuck it's own generic driver in there. i downloaded the xp driver and didn't install it. i had to manually update the driver from device manager. don't let windows find it point it to it manually or windows will just put the generic driver back on. i'm using 6.14.10.6547 and i haven't had any bsod's or problems with it at all. i have the same ati chip that you have.

another thing, i'm using the beta flash, 10.2, it runs a lot smoother, less cpu usage.

Rolled back to W7 standard VGA driver. No Flash Crash, no Boxee crash but still fails to load, reports hardware acceleration issue, wants Direct X 9.xx which I do have installed.

that standard vga driver isn't gonna let you use hardware acceleration. you're gonna have to get a real driver to work. i have direct x 10.00 with hardware acceleration working with the xp driver i listed above.
