X6 Ultrabase Slim Slot peripherals on X201 Ultrabase dock

I am in the process of migrating from an X61 w/X6 ultrabase to an X201 w/Ultrabase. I have a slim DVD Multi+ from my old machine, as well as the SATA drive carrier. On first pass, it seems that the old accessories don't quite fit. Should these older slim peripherals work in the new ultrabase? am I doing something wrong? or is possible that I have a bum new ultrabay? Or do I need to push harder to get them in? They go in most of the way, but haven't wanted to force them.
