w510 arrived: My experience + a question

#1 Post by Daniel Davis » Wed Jan 12, 2011 1:44 am

My w510 arrived. I had one particular glitch in working with it. I don't know if this problem will continue or not.

When I insert a cd to install software, a window pops up for about 5 seconds. The window asks if I want to run SETUP.EXE. If I don't hit ENTER immediately, the window goes away, and the system won't recognize the DVD drive until I reboot...at which the whole process starts over again.

Now the question: What type of cabling is easiest to transfer data files from my x41 to my w510?

How about using an external USB HDD to transfer the data? Don't forget to take your browser favourites, Outlook PST files, Office templates (if you have Word macros etc) which are often not in obvious locations.

I don't use Windows 7 so can't help with the setup.exe problem.

Enjoy your new machine!!!
