When I turn it on, it goes to thinkpad splash screen, then says
Intel boot agent GE v. 1.2.50

Exiting Intel Boot Agent
Then:
With 2 of my normally used XP hard drives (my ssd and a backup drive)
Then windows starts, and before a desktop comes up, it gives a Blue Screen of Death for too little time to read it. it said something about Viruses.
With one of my hard drives, It does the same boot agent failure routine, then windows starts, but instead of a desktop it wants me to call up the Reich Chancellory @ microsoft, and "activate windows" whatever than means. I never had this problem when switching hard drives. Anyway, it gives a long bunch of numbers and it wants me to call microsoft and give them those numbers and then they will supposedly give me another bunch of numbers and that would theoretically activate it.
So why would only one of three normally working drives work, and why would it want to be activated?
I am reluctant to activate it, because then what will happen if I put the drive back into my other computer, where it already works fine.
I tried booting to the recovery partition, and that works ok. I noticed that the serial # and model # were very strange.
Serial #
Going?
or
_Going
these two serial #/s both appeared in the rescue and recovery partition. One of them on the main screen and the other one on the system information screen.
Model #
?MFG_IN
UUID:
00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 - 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
Any ideas?
Do I need to load a fresh xp? I hate to load my ssd again. I went to a lot of trouble to get the partition aligned and get my programs loaded. And what is this boot agent failure
installed new motherboard in t60p windows won't boot
Re: installed new motherboard in t60p windows won't boot
In BIOS, set the SATA controller to compatibility or AHCI mode (whichever it is not now) and put the hard drive first (or second after the optical drive) in boot order under startup.

I think,
You'll have to use the maintenance tools (USB-Floppy-Disk) to edit the systeminfo and the UUID (Both are shown in the Bios), in order to (re-)
gain access.
Otherwise You will have no chance to reactivate the laptop and/or the installation. You should find the thread on "how to" here within
thinkpads.com.
Anyway, I would - after editing the system information and after securing data - do a completely new install after reformating/cleaning the
hdd/ssd.
Happy trails
