t42 GPU issue?

#1 Post by jamnkats » Sat Jan 15, 2011 8:23 pm

So I have a T42 2373-JXU that I sent in to GPU Medics for whatever to fix the thing. Reinistalled the motherboard and still having problems except now instead of booting and hanging or hanging if moved, the backlight seems to be an issue (it works fine attached to an external display and/or with a flashlight). Is this something that could have happened with the motherboard or is it a LCD/inverter/backlight board issue?

T30 2366-81U still works but not being currently used. I think I'll rectify that situation.
T40 2373-19U dead
(2) T42 2373-JXU with Flexview LCDs. One with either GPU or southbridge issue.
T43 2687-D4U with possible software problem. Awaiting R&Rs.

It could be either really. There are fuses around the LCD connector on the systemboard that if blown could cause the same symptom. If you have a multimeter you can check them. Find a post from member Poshgeordie and check out the link in his sig for fuse locations. In my opinion it could also be a botched GPU fix.
