X200 with bluetooth 3.0

#1 Post by rkan » Mon Jan 17, 2011 5:42 pm

As I have a Galaxy S, I would like to get BT3 support for my upcoming X200.

Would a card like this work?.. It also has N-wifi, so myabe I can take my wifi card out and replace it with some more goodies... for example the Broadcomm Crystal HD decoder 8) :

The HP drivers might need some fiddling around with, I have nothing against being without Access Connections either.

Configuration would be like this:

WWAN
Crystal HD decoder (maybe)
BT3 + WiFi card

Ofcourse any other card will do. More options: http://www.broadcom.com/products/Wirele ... -Solutions

More suggestions?

That would be a total craps shoot, unless you can find someone who has tried that card. The best case is that it will work but you'll need to run it under a modified BIOS. Worst cast is it won't work at all.

I use a D-Link Bluetooth USB adaptor to enable my x200 to receive files on the occasions when I need to transfer data from my mobile telephone.

If you don't need Bluetooth all the time, a Bluetooth USB adaptor works well.
Thinkpads I have known: (380z, T40, X32), X61, X200, X200S, X201

Yea, modified BIOS will be flashed naturally. The newest crystal HD also fits in a half sized pciemini slot though. Same goes with the upcoming Gobi 3000, which some versions will support wifi. Maybe a intel pciemini ssd next heh. But for BT3 I've only seen broadcomm ones. An intenal BT is a must.

GMA X4500HD supports hardware accelerated video decoding, so what is the need for that crystal HD?
Lifebook P1032 (1024*600 8.9") => Averatec AV1000 (WXGA 10.6") => Kohjinsha SH6 (1024*600 7.2") => Sharp M4000 (WXGA 13.3") => X200-AFFS, dead => X200s-AFFS, later -PVA => X220 4290RV5 + Intel 310 80GB, T420s 4173KSU + FHD IPS + Sandisk Z400s 128GB

X4500 doesn't support as many video formats as the crystal hd. X4500 also doesn't support flash. And since the card ain't that expensive, I'd just like to see how it performes.

Linux, for instance, would benefit from it...
