Need Fast Advice! How are these two batteries different?

#1 Post by IBMorBust » Sat Mar 19, 2005 12:47 pm

Both are on IBMs website:

One, the "6 cell" is $159.

The other, which is compatible with my T42, but doesn't say "6 cell," is $129.

I ordered a Brenthaven case which I love, but my T42 with the 9 cell battery doesn't fit in the interior sleeve (fits perfectly with a standard battery though).

The $129 item is 4400mah and the $159 item is 4800mah. The more expensive one should last about 10% longer.

You may find a better price for the low capacity version at other shops.

Since both batteries are of the 3x2 type (3 parallel pairs of cells in series), and 4.8/2=2.4 Ah, these are the highest-capacity 18650-size Li-ion cells available commercially. Some believe that these very-high-capacity cells fade faster than the lower-capacity ones, so your euphoria may be of limited duration...

z,

How credible are these claims, though, and if so, I assume by what you're saying that the 4400mah won't have the same degradation issue (or not as bad, at least) with pronlonged use?
