Erricsson f3507g mobile broadband issues

#1 Post by K-a-M-u-Z-u » Thu Jan 20, 2011 10:26 am

Hi.
I cant get it to work properly after updating the driver.
i have uninstalled all the drivers, downloaded again via Lenovo update. (Vodafone and AT&T Wireless WAN (HSPA) Driver).
installed it and everything went fine, the WWAN indicator is turned on but i cannot control it via Fn+F5.it only shows the WIFI.
the indicator stays on even when i "DISABLE" the Erricsson adapter.

Restart didnt work, turning on-off the Physical wireless button didnt work, Diasble and enable the device driver didnt work.
the adapter is showing up in the adapters list with no problems.
*i dont have Access Connection installed.

before the update i could control it on and off via Fn+F5 and was able to connect.

tanks.

Are you running a x86 or an x64 version of Windows 7?

The current Lenovo driver F3507G driver for Windows 7 is version 6.1.10.5 - is that what you have installed? I have that running fine in a T400 and an X200 under Windows Ultimate x64, with Access Connections installed.

I'm using windows 7 x64 ultimate.
It's weired, my driver version is 1.0.0.60 and it's the latest in lenovo site.
I try to update the windows driver through it's propereties and update driver, and I get that I'm using the last version.
Are you sure you have the same card?
I don't have access connection installed because I don't like it, but before the update I could use the card without it.

i have light indication that the card is turned on, but in the wireless control of access connections its marked as off and i cannot enable it.
when i try to switch to broadband connection in the access connections main windows i get
Internal error(Error code = 51).API failed

You should generally always install Access Connections last, after installing all the network drivers - if you want to use Access Connections. Access Connections should not be required to connect with any network driver.

You might try uninstalling Access Connections and the Ericsson drivers, then go to Windows Update and using a wired connection see if Windows can find the drivers for you.

The lastest Windows 7 driver for a 3507g on the Lenovo site is this one.....

http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... MIGR-73681

The 1.0.n.n drivers appear to be for Windows Vista and XP.

I have downloaded the specified driver from lenovo site.after i install the EXE, windows detect and install drivers for the following adapters automaticly.i cannot change the driver.i have also tried to install using "Run as administrator".

I have took some screen shots:

as you can see, the light indicator shows that the wwan is on while the status on the computer is set to off:
http://lh5.ggpht.com/_BiazWL3cSPw/TTv5H ... -33-12.png
i have uninstalled access connection and the drivers+Detlete software and reboot.

Installed the "Ericsson F3507g Mobile Broadband Wireless WAN Driver for Windows 7 (32-bit, 64-bit) - ThinkPad L410, L510, SL300, SL400, SL400c, SL410, SL500, SL500c, SL510, T400, T400s, T500, W500, X200, X200s, X200 Tablet, X301" file named "7uw708ww.exe"
after its been installed, windows install drivers from windows update:
http://lh6.ggpht.com/_BiazWL3cSPw/TTv5I ... -29-20.png
and the software in the "Programs and Features" panel:
http://lh3.ggpht.com/_BiazWL3cSPw/TTv5v ... -49-31.png

Device drivers:

http://lh4.ggpht.com/_BiazWL3cSPw/TTv5I ... -41-36.png

when i start access connection and try to choose "WWAN" i get this error:
http://lh3.ggpht.com/_BiazWL3cSPw/TTv5u ... -42-33.png
and then access connection hang and crash.

*UPDATE:

i have tried to install the Vista driver named "7uwc44ww.exe"
and it installed the following drivers:
http://lh3.ggpht.com/_BiazWL3cSPw/TTwA9 ... -08-25.png
After i was able to "switch ON" the power, but its not Really doing anything. the light indicator stay on during all the time, and after 30 seconds or so, the "Switch on" status window get back to OFF status(and the light stay on).if i will prees the "ON" and thaen quickly the "OFF" - the light indicator will shut down.
http://lh5.ggpht.com/_BiazWL3cSPw/TTwA9 ... -20-10.png
and even when the status is on, i cannot see the WWAN Connection:
http://lh3.ggpht.com/_BiazWL3cSPw/TTwCM ... -24-54.png
**its the same with access connection installed or without it.

My guess is that you have a bad registry entry that crept in somewhere borking things up. Try Googling the error number with the modem and you might find the solution. Look also at Lenovo forums to see if someone else has encountered this same error. I encountered a similar but different problem with a Huawei modem and had to edit the registry to fix it. I found the solution with Google at Lenovo's forum.

I am not really familiar with your Ericsson modem but I imagine it uses a SIM card (most broadband modems do). Do you have a SIM card installed? Has the phone number associated with the SIM card been provisioned for data use with your wireless provider?

You might be able to fix your problem by uninstalling the following and reinstalling in the correct order. IIRC the correct order is listed below.
Uninstall in the following order:
Access Connections
Ericsson software
WiFi Software (If installed from Lenovo)
Wired LAN Software (If installed from Lenovo)
Hotkey Features (Several components listed in Programs and Features, such as On Screen Display and ThinkPad FullScreen Magnifier. You might find the Lenovo System Interface Driver as well.)
Lenovo PM driver

Reinstall in the following order:
Lenovo PM driver
Hotkey Features
Wired LAN (If uninstalled above)
WiFi Software (If uninstalled above)
Ericsson Software
Access Connections

i have downloaded "ThinkPad Mobile Broadband (Qualcomm Gobi1000, Qualcomm Gobi2000, Ericsson F3507g)" from lenovo W500 drivers page.
the file name is "6jwa11ww.exe" and its 11.5mb
after i installed it, i get a new section in Lenovo Toolbox:
http://lh5.ggpht.com/_BiazWL3cSPw/TTyGH ... -48-15.png
when i press "launch lenovo broadband connect i get:
http://lh4.ggpht.com/_BiazWL3cSPw/TTyGZ ... -49-38.png
when i press sign up i get:
http://lh6.ggpht.com/_BiazWL3cSPw/TTyFG ... -43-33.png

maybe the card is locked somehow? i know its working because i used it before they had a new driver for it.

Interesting.

Looking at ThinkWiki it says: "the card will not work without an inserted SIM, even the GPS function. If you want to use just GPS, any SIM would work, even if it is not attached to any active account with any GSM provider."

http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Ericsson_ ... and_Module

Do you have a SIM card installed in the ThinkPad that has been activated? Note that once a SIM card is deactivated, it can never be used again. You have to get a new SIM card from your carrier and have them activate it. Usually you can get these SIM cards for free from your carrier's store in the USA. If you are outside of the USA you may have to pay for a SIM card - don't know.

The SIM card has to be activated for the carrier that you are using. For instance, you cannot use a T-Mobile SIM card with AT&T and vice versa.

i have tried two different sims.(one that i already used with the computer before the driver update, and another one that i'm sure that its not locked).none of them works.
the card is listed in device manager, but i cannot control it on or off and it wont show up in the wireless connection list.
i will try to check both of the cards under linux, i'm almost sure that the WWAN and the sims are ok.
will post an update.

I tried to re-install windows 7 to repair it, using the upgrade option, and I got BSOD regarding wwan 64bit driver. I had to disable the wwan card in the bios to complete the setup.
