Motherboard Replacement: How To?

#1 Post by DeeDee » Sat Mar 19, 2005 3:07 pm

Hi All,

New to the forum, but have been a Thinkpad lover for years. After lobbying for it at work, I'll be getting a new T42 2379DXU next week.

However, at home, my old tried and true T23 is sick. It's never been able to boot properly since I spilled some liquid in the keyboard a few months ago.

I purchased a replacement motherboard for my T23, but I can't for the life of my figure out how to crack the case.

I've removed the HD, RAM cover, all the screws from the bottom, but can't figure out what to do next....

Can anyone offer any pointers on how to crack open a T23? :?:

Thanks,

DeeDee

Thanks for the link to the manual!

So far, I've managed to now remove the LCD hinge cover, the keyboard, and the keyboard bezel.

While I'm at it, I really should replace the bezel and keyboard, as they're getting pretty gnarly.

Are there any member-preferred places to buy reliable replacement parts at good prices?

I saw www.thinkpadmedic.com, but the prices seems a bit high.

Thanks,

DeeDee
