Is that an FRU # under the yellow line to the right?
If so, it looks like it starts with an "A" and has a "P" in it.
From what I've been told by FT experts and seen on ebay, if Intel didn't specifically make it for IBM, don't get it for an IBM laptop.
One potential buyer asked if it worked with a Dell. Some cards may be fine for many brand laptops but some of Intel's cards were adjusted specifically for certain brand laptops. Many list the brand on the card or a brand specific part number that in some cases indicates a difference in the card. TPs use Intel cards specifically modified to be used on TPs. One not made specifically for TP may or may not require a BIOS hack to work or may not work at all.

Hi, thanks for the info. Under the yellow line in the middle of this photo it just says "Intel(R) PRO/Wireless 2100 LAN 3B Mini PCIAdapter" - is that where you meant?

Yes
here's an example of one with an FRU#
http://cgi.ebay.com/IBM-Thinkpad-R51-R5 ... 19ba886236
I have seen the FRU# listed in various locations on the card. If it doesn't have an FRU#, it wasn't meant to be used on an IBM.

OK thanks, I was unaware. I have already posted the one I sold but have another here identical. I can't see a FRU on it, but then I haven't opened it. I'll get in touch with my buyer. Thanks again!
