Is Suspend/Hibernate function working on Vector or Puppy?

#1 Post by arabianights » Mon Jan 24, 2011 6:44 pm

hey, guys

my first post here:)

I'm currently running XandrOS on my Thinkpad T23. I worked well but one thing missing is that power saving features doesn't work properly. I'm considering update. After some research, I think Vector or Puppy linux will fit my needs, Ubuntu's min requirement is too high for my T23.

ONe thing I like to know is whether vector or puppy's power saving features work on T23 or not.

thanks

Welcome to the forum!

I'm not sure I can answer your question, but, the last OS I had on a T23 was PCLinuxOS, and IIRC suspend worked well. Never used or tried Hibernate. Not long ago I had Puppy 4.2 installed on a 600E and suspend worked there too as long as a wireless network adapter was not active. I've got Puppy 5.2 on my 600X right now, I'll boot that up and see if suspend works... Yes, it does. However, there is no hibernate option with Puppy, at least not with the default JWM. Don't know if other window managers offer that option or not as I've never really wanted to hibernate. But, of course, that doesn't guarantee the same results on your T23.

updates:

I downloaded and installed the newly released Debian Squeeze 6.0 on my laptop, wow, it's very fast and responsive. and the suspend/hibernate works right out of the box on my Thinkpad T23. 3D accelerated graphics is also enabled for T23 :D
