*SOLD*: T42, Hi-Res, COND 8/10, $250 OBO, Top RAM Slot Issue

Hey formuites,

So I have a T42 for sale for anyone that wants it. I'm asking $250 + Shipping to USA/CAN.

The laptop specs can be seen in my signature. It is labeled as a T40 on the LCD bezel but has a confirmed T42 motherboard. It had a previous motherboard with GPU issue that was swapped out.

The screen on this machine is excellent. My newer T61 pales in comparison to the T42 screen; The T42 4:3 resolution of 1400x1050 is untouchable compared to these newer T61 1280x800 wides-screen models. At least to my eyes. Everyone has their own preference.

Other than the specs, you should be aware that the RAM slot under the keyboard is not functioning properly ATM. The RAM slot at the bottom of the PC works fine. And the current RAM is installed in that slot accordingly.

It comes with the factory WinXP Pro sticker and no install/recovery CDs.

Hopefully this laptop will find another nice home with some forumite who actually enjoys Thinkpads. And who knows, maybe even get a chance to be upgraded further.

Rather than end up in the hands of the general public at large who are too wooed by flashy HP designs to realize that if they even drop a hint of coffee on it, their machine will fry. Thankfully you won't have to worry about that since the T42 above boasts the ever resilient design that can take a glass of coke and still live to tell the tale.

If it doesn't sell, you could always put the LCD in your other T42 (2373-4WU).

Actually the 4WU was simply the older code for the same machine (which got changed due to motherboard swap). Anyway, the laptop has been sold, though to a non-forumite who didn't quite understand the reason for the red dot. O well...

PS: If anyone's curious, it sold for $190 CAD.
