T41 ... is unwilling to see the HDD

#1 Post by mirka » Wed Jan 26, 2011 5:16 am

Hello,.......... Please scroll to bottom.....
replaced HDD at a T41... Formated it .... Try to install Windows XP Pro. It looks like its working... but then comes the question " You want to install XP... hit ENTER" followed by the message "can not install - no HDD found" ! ??
Grrrr.... put a Knopix 3.8 (linux) ... no problem ! Hdd found... Hdd check ... is working.
Big wonder ... put a old Windows 98 CD in ... it works ... after a while it says " OS2 files found -doe you like to keep it or erase it" ... I erased them.
Windows 98 continued untill the end . No problems anny further.
Afterwards I installed XP Pro .
It looks like there are still buggs in MS Software ???

Try setting the calendar (next to the internal digital clock) to a foreigen language it works .
the calendar comes up in that language . Try to set it back to the original language - Grrrr - IT FAILS !!! same is happend at Windows 7 Ultimate . Try Kyrili letters (Russian) set it back to English - Grrrr - it fails from now on you will always have you calendar in Kyrill letters.

SHAME TO MS !!!!

see you Mirka

some creature must be sitting with your OS.
try getting a clean installer and install.

You must use a IDE disk .

M$ may have bugs, but your laptop has a Southbridge chip problem.
To verify, is your USB still 2.0 or is now working as USB 1.1?
Check the Reflow Repair link in my signature for more info.

Hi,

Next time you want to reinstall the operating system delete the partition first, Then create a new partition then run your install disk and let windows format the drive (Not the Quick format).

Hello,

Now I have T41p try to install a new HDD . Same problems as before . The Linux trick is not working.
Insert a old Win 98 CD it says similar to "HDD not found" .... prepare a DOS partition ??
How about that ??..... never heard .... am I to young ??
Same by using XP Pro .....same by using Windows 7 ultimate.... it ask for Driver from a certain CD .... but I doe not have .... anny help availaible ..

Best regards Mirka

P.S. Insert the HDD to a Siemens Lifebook. Install Windows XP on it ... it works smooth without anny problem ! ! And it comes up WITH sound and graphik !! NO need for installing extra drivers ... like Intel-Chipset, Audio, Ati Graphik etc.
Than erased partition , write new partition with Paragon Partition Manager,
took the HDD back to the IBM mashine. Install XP ..... it works....
The Problem is solved
Best regards Mirka
