HELP: My A20m Won't Power Up

#1 Post by worm1031 » Sun Mar 20, 2005 12:00 am

All of a sudden my A20m won't power up. I push the power button and get nothing. I have not had any problems with my computer prior to this. I am not sure how to check if it is a battery issue. What I do know is that when I plug in the charger/AC power cord, the battery light illuminates green, but it doesn't appear to be charging and I still can't turn the unit on. I thought there may have been an issue with the AC cord so I bought a new one. The computer still won't come on. Can someone please help me find a solution to this problem? Thank you!!!!!

See if it will turn on if you remove the battery and plug into AC. If not, re-seat the RAM chip(s). The next thing we usually recommend with a power issue after that is to replace the CMOS battery.

I tried this and still nothing. I am not sure how to reseat the RAM chips like you recommended so as soon as I get someone that can do that I will check it out and if that doesn't work, I will replace the CMOS battery. At any rate, I will post my end results. Thank you so much for your help.

Re-seating the RAM chips couldn't be easier - just open the little compartment on the underside of the computer (unpug it first, of course), take out the RAM chips and then put them back in. Replace the cover. You're done. Turn it on and see what happens.
