gm965 - force non-lenovo driver for gaming ?

#1 Post by eyeland » Wed Feb 02, 2011 4:29 am

Hi
I do a bit of casual gaming on my T61 when I am on the go and thus using my desktop or a Vidock-like solution is not a viable solution to my problem, namely that I crash constantly in Eve online.
I can run many other games like wow (god forbid that I should return to that grim addiction ;) but Eve keeps crashing and the support team has suggested that I might benefit from forcing another driver than the one issued by Lenovo. While reseaching this issue, I have learned 3 things, (1) that some people uses modded drivers, (2) that the latest Lenovo certified Intel driver may or may not be up to date and (3) that some people report this eve crash as being a Vista/seven issue only.
I have tried anyting (not including extensive driver tests) that I can think off as to settings, reinstalls x86/x64, tweaks and such to no avail.
The issue first appeared after the release of the dominion expansion.
I know this forum is not populated by gamers :), still I'd be interested if anyone has done more extensive research on general gm965 issues and such :)
