Fan Noise - Trick searched

#1 Post by jwege » Wed Feb 02, 2011 8:11 am

Hi,

I have a R52 (not necessary to mention it has it's age?) that still fits my needs where I use it (as a Music- and Print-Server).

Unfortunately, the fan sometimes starts to produce noise (like resonance frequencies, a low-medium frequence wobble/scratch noise). Sometimes, this can be (brutally) cured by knocking on the shelf, but sometimes this does not help ...

I believe to have found out that in case the fan runs on full speed, the noise is NOT there but rather only when it is running on lower speeds.

Since the noise of the fan itself even at high speed is not problematic at all, I consider to make it run "full speed all the time".

Two questions in that context:

1.) Is there any chance to make that happen without physically change something?

2.) If 1=no, ist here any way to make it happen by physically change something, i.e. cut a wire for the speed sensor or thomething similar?

I know that is the brutal curing method, but since I already cleaned it as good as possible and a remove of the fan to clean or replace seems to be impossible due to the nature of applicationm with some glued plastic on one of the devices, this seems to be tha only solution.

Thanks for any help!
Jürgen

Looks very good, seems to solve the problem.

Thanks so much!
