X60s hard Drive Type?

#1 Post by ParatoOptimal » Thu Feb 03, 2011 4:55 am

Is the X60s limited to a SATA I or can it take a SATA II HDD?

If it's limited to SATA I, is there a hacked BIOS that allows it to use SATA II?

If it's limited to SATA I, do Samsung SATA II HDDs have a jumper or software setting to make them SATA I?

If it's limited to SATA I and Samsung SATA II HDDs can be set to SATA I and a hacked BIOS is available, would you recommend a hacked BIOS to run SATA II HDDS or setting SATA II HDDs to SATA I?

Thank you

1) believe it just runs the drive at SATA I speed, like my t60p.

2) don't know of one. always thought it was locked in the controller chip-set, not bios.

3) never needed a jumper to 'under clock' my SATA drives.

4) personally, i stay away from hacked bios.

AFAIK, there's no hacked BIOS for 60 series, only for 61.

You can use a SATA II drive, it will just work at SATA I speeds. No jumpers required. Plug and play.

Good luck.

The chipset used in X60 series doesn't support SATA2. No hack is even possible.
