Display Manager Problem with external monitor via DVI

#1 Post by PaulO » Thu Feb 03, 2011 3:17 pm

I have an X200 with docking station that I had been using with an older LCD via VGA analogue out. I just purchased a 24" Viewsonic VX2450, with 1920 x 1080 resolution. I am connecting it from the docking station Displayport output using a Displayport to DVI connector. The ViewSonic has DVI and VGA inputs.

I am trying to set up display setting using the presentation/display manager (Fn + F7). When I try to create a setting with only the external DVI monitor, or, if I try to create an extended display setting with the Viewsonic as the primary monitor, I get the same error message:

"The following setting you have selected cannot be applied properly. Change the setting and try again. Notebook LCD. If you are using the enhanced USB port replicator, you must choose a display configuration with the notebook LCD as the primary monitor."

This leads me to think that the X200 somehow thinks that I am using a USB port replicator, versus the docking station. I never had any issues creating configurations like these with the VGA out and my old LCD. Any ideas on what the problem is and how to remedy it?

Thanks,

Paul

Try changing displayport to be the primary display device in BIOS.
