Revert back to xp
If I bought a copy of winxp...and installed it on my w510...could I still get the touch screen to work? To continue using win7pro, I'd have to buy a lot of "upgrades" to programs I already use.
Re: Revert back to xp
can't you use 7's xp mode to run the older apps that don't run ok in 7?

Revert back to xp
There are a lot of programs which won't run even using XP mode. Another issue is 32 v 64 bit. I've found some 32 bit software that won't run in 64 bit w7.

Nope. Wordperfect 11 would not even install in xp mode. Neither would several others.

Re: Revert back to xp
do you mean xp compatibility mode or windows xp mode (the virtual disk image)? the xp mode is an actuall virtual PC that runs xp but is able to intregrate with the win7 desktop. You may want to try that (you need to install the program in the virtual pc, after that you can run it from the start menu)

You may wish to look further into <a href=”http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtua ... x”>Windows Virtual PC and Windows XP Mode</a>. You mention that your system runs Windows 7 Professional, for which Windows Virtual PC and Windows XP Mode are available free as a <a href=”http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtua ... ”>download from Microsoft</a>.
Windows Virtual PC creates a separate virtual environment within a running Windows 7 host environment which in which a licensed copy of Windows XP Professional SP3 32 bit will run. It is pre-configured to publish applications installed in the Windows XP virtual environment to the start menu of the Windows 7 host environment, allowing them to be accessed directly as though they were installed within Windows 7, even if completely Windows 7 or 64 bit incompatible.
For more information on how Windows XP Mode can assist you, and help with configuration <a href=”http://www.microsoft.com/windows/virtua ... aspx”>this page</a> contains some great documentation and videos.

In answer to your original question, no. You would have to install windows xp tablet pc edition in order to have your tablet features work. xp pro doesn't have any tablet features with it.
