Infrared driver?
Infrared driver?
On my T60 I looked at the infrared device at the left side of the palmrest and found out that it was not present in "device manager"
So I went into BIOS where it had the "hidden" status, but here I enabled it.
After restart, the device manager shows an "unknown device", which I assume is the IR-port. But i do not seem able to find a driver for this on Lenovos site.
What do I do wrong?

Re: Infrared driver?
Try to use "update driver" on Driver tab and let Windows connect to Windows Update to search for driver. Hope it helps.

Re: Infrared driver?
G'Day hmm...
There are number of ways you can UPDATE the driver(s) on your T60 laptop (my fav model of TP!)
The BEST & MOST EASIEST way is to install System Update
You might already have it , as now its part of ThinkVantage Toolbox...However I dont like the rest of ThinkVantage apps , so I ONLY install the System Update .
That way you can 'seek' and install the RELEVANT DRIVERS without any issues as it installs them in the 'correct order' & the latest versions ....
Works really nicely !
OR
You can go here and use the Old Fashion way to get to the relevant drivers(just make sure your machine TYPE& MODEL matches from bottom of laptop)
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... -MATRIX#hp
Windows Update generally picks up any left over Drivers...
If the driver , dones not install = you might have hardware issues - since you already enabled it in BIOS etc
Cheers

Re: Infrared driver?
Hi ausmike!
Thanks for the elaborate answer, but I have already tried the "System Update" - but no infrared driver came up. The strange thing is, that if I get the list of specifications from Lenovo, there is no mentioning of infrared there. But obviously in my maschine something is there!
Maybe the problem is, that nothing has migrated to Windows7?

Re: Infrared driver?
Hhm...
maybe u can try this..
a) after doing ALL win7 UPDATES.............
> go to Control Panel , find the "i" the one with yello trangle and :i: in middle , RIGHT CLICK on that line and DISABLE IT............you will hear a beep!
c) ,,,, reboot , and come back to CONTROL PANEL...
than go to same LINE (now disabled ...) and RIGHT CLICK and EMABLE ..
> this time you should see windows ASK for "update driver" ,,,, then you can choose " search windows updates for drivers" ((just make sure you connected to net)) ,,,,,,,,,, and it "should' pick up the new driver(s)...
Only REASON it wont = when IR-_PORT is not working = hardware issue!
if its hardware issue - its hard to fix ,,,,,,, than I can suggest , invest in a Bluetooth (which is lots better and faster) as a substitue ....
Hope this helps

Re: Infrared driver?
Hi ausmike!
Been there, done that! - but same result, it does not find any driver. Neither winupdate nor Lenovo system update finds anything.
I better go back to BIOS and disable the [censored]' thing again.

Howzat? http://download.cnet.com/IBM-ThinkPad-F ... 56318.html
If not OK, try this program, maybe it can find the driver: http://www.zhangduo.com/driverbackup.html
