Win7 clean install - how do you get BT running?

#1 Post by akorn » Sun Feb 06, 2011 7:34 am

Bought an X301 recently. Felt I needed more screen estate (esp. in terms of height), so upgrading to an X201 with wide screen (from my X61s with a 4:3) was not an option.

As I needed more harddisk space, I up/downgraded to a normal 250 GB harddisk, requiring me to reinstall the OS. I went with Win7 64bit Enterprise (with MUI, nice feature!). Everything works without Lenovo tools, but I cannot activate bluetooth (e.g. by pressing Fn + F5, nothing happens when doing that), which would be required in order to install the Lenovo driver exe I found on Levono's website. An installation attmept with that exe stops with such a statement.

I have a few exclamation marks in the Device Manager (related to PCI), but have not identified the one associated with BT. An then what?

How does one go about getting BT up and running?

Cheers,
akorn

G'Day Akon;..
see if you have the following (drivers) installed from Lenovo website...
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... -MATRIX#hp
a) hot key
b) Power manager
c) BT Drivers from Lenovo (enhanced .....)

But generally I use System Update and it picks up all things missing AFTER FRESSH INSTALL of any OS
And Windows Update picks up the rest (if any) missing drivers...

Cheers

Hej ausmike,
thanks for the quick help, the hot-key utility did the trick! Didn't find it myself, since it isn't listed at the top of the page.

Worked for the WAN as well, although that did not show in the Fn+F5 menu until I installed the Lenovo software (don't expect to use it anyway).

Cheers,
akorn

FYI.... I NEVER use the HOT KEY ,,,,,,anywhere
but its the SAME DRIVER that gives you those 'nice cute blue/green' linew when you press the VOLUME BUTTONS on most all TPs ,,,,,,,,,,,,, and the HK driver is 'linked' to the Power Manager driver which is linked to WAN ; ETHERNET: to ,,,,, wole lot of other things ,,,,,,,,,,,,,and FN=F5 key etc etc

System Update = installes all these 'in the CORRECT ORDER" ,,,, so every works first-off ,,,, when doing OS 'fresh installs' or Upgrades....

I only use these ThinkVanagte ONLY :
HOTKEY
PManager
FP Reader
TP Active Protection.....
,,,, and infact I UNINSTALL all of them them ,,,, whenever I get a new ThinkPAD......

Cheers
