I had a new keyboard put into my T60p recently after a water spill (into the touchpad buttons).
A new icon has appeared in the status area of my (Windows XP) task bar. It is a little rounded square with "Fn" written in it.
Whenever I press and release the Fn key, this icon will go green. At the same time, a larger gray icon with Fn on it will appear in the middle bottom of the screen like the volume control on-screen display.
The Fn key essentially stays active waiting for me to press the second key in the Fn-somekey combo.
This is super annoying when I am typing as I may not notice the engagement of this sticky Fn key, and when I hit the spacebar I get the screen magnified. And all my palettes and toolbars go whack-o, not to mention losing my train of thought.
I have looked extensively but have not been able to find how to turn this bleeding functionality off. No right-clickable menu on the task bar icon. No setting in Keyboard Customiser. No setting in Control Panel - Keyboard. Control Panel - Accessibility Options StickyKeys is off.
Please help!
Much thanks!!!
Fn key "sticky"
Re: Fn key "sticky"
Solved!
The relevant setting was hidden inside the BIOS.
Fn Lock was somehow set to Enabled.
Duh!
