Upgrading X41T disk - options in the UK?

#1 Post by marty50 » Thu Feb 10, 2011 5:14 am

Hi all,

I have read this forum with interest over the past few months after I came into possession of two X41T's. Some great threads on SSD vs IDE drives, and some scary ones on SATA modifications

However, in the UK I can only seem to find KingSpec drives on eBay/Amazon for a reasonable price. Nobody seems to have IDE drives in stock, or they are grossly over-priced due to their lack of availability. I don't need a huge drive, and this RunCore SSD would be fine, but it's quite costly, imo.

Does anyone have any ideas of where I can get a reasonably priced drive? IDE/SSD makes little difference to me really, I just want to replace the old 40GB clicky stock one before it perishes, and I'd like a bit of extra speed if I'm honest. SanDisk are usually widely available here but I can't find their 1.8" offerings either :(

Any help/advice welcomed! Thanks!

I don't know the UK market in detail, but I think Ebay and this forum will be your best bet. I've bought this SSD some weeks ago. It was fairly priced and it's working fine in my X41T.

Good luck with the search!

I both my SDD from http://www.memoryc.com/, I think the site ships from Ireland, which I hope is probably OK with you. I got the shipment for less than 24h here in BG, no taxes, so everything should be ok for you :)
