X300 owners: what are your battery specs?

#1 Post by Tommy the cat » Thu Feb 10, 2011 9:02 am

Dear X300 owners,

My battery needs to be replaced and I'm looking for a battery with Panasonic cells.

So I wanted to ask you to look in your battery specs to check if your battery is from Sanyo, Panasonic, or else.

You can check it here: Power Manager (advanced mode) > Battery > under battery details.

For example, mine is:
FRU 42T4522 (Sanyo)

Thanks!

Edit: also if your battery is not Panasonic, the information is very welcome!
X301 [current, not in use yet]
X300 [current, going to give it away (perfect condition)]
T400 without led [sold]
T61 14,1 [replaced]

For the X300 it seems there was only one manufacturer for each battery type. Sony for 3-cell and 3-cell ultrabay, Sanyo for 6-cell.

For the X301 the FRUs changed, but the batteries apparently didn't:

Collectibles: T430s (IPS FHD + Classic Keyboard), X32 (IPS Screen)
Retired: X61 7673-V2V, A31p w/ Ultrabay Numpad

Your information is very helpful.

The FRU 42T4518 (Sony) and the FRU 42T4522 (Sanyo) (which I have now) cannot be delivered by IBM parts Netherlands anymore and they offer FRU 42T4641 (3cell) and FRU 42T4643 (6cell), the batteries for the X301 as you already mentioned. However IBM doesn’t have manufacturer info for me regarding the last two.

But from your following links FRU 42T4641 seems to be Sony and 42T4643 Sanyo, again.

So it seems X30x 6cell users are stuck with Sanyo. No Panasonic :(.

I have exactly what you information indicates in the 2 batteries that came with my X300. The 6-Cell is the Sanyo, which is sitting at 35mAh (vs. the 43mAh designed spec), after 301 cycles.

Like you, I have preferred the Panasonics in the past, but I can't complain about the performance of the Sanyo on my machine.
