T410s and GOBI 2000 card

#1 Post by CCA_Garcia » Thu Feb 10, 2011 9:14 am

I just received (53) T410s laptops and (53) GOBI 2000 Broadband cards. The directions that came with the cards are a bit confusing and unclear. I removed the bottom cover to expose the slots for the memory and the WIFI card. The WIFI card has a black and gray wires with a connector attached. There is an open slot where the GOBI 2000 fits. There is a blue, white and brown wires with connectors that are not connected. My question is where do these wires attach? The GOBI 2000 has a AUX and MAIN terminal connector but not a third. Should I removed the WIFI card that originally came with the laptops?

CCA_Garcia - Welcome to the forum. :thumbs-UP:

According to page-97 of the ThinkPad T400s, T410s and T410si HMM - An Orange cable should connect to the Main and the Blue cable should connect to the Aux connectors of the Gobi 2000. There is no mention of a Brown cable in the HMM though.

The White cable is usually for the WLAN third antenna (RO or TR3) (see page-94) which some WLAN cards have. There is no need to remove the WiFi/WLAN card.

Can only assume that the Brown cable maybe for the WWAN Main connector
