Seems to me some of you TP collectors have mentioned looking for the IBM TransNote -- This is a brand new eBay listing:

Unfortunately I cannot buy one, but it was intresting to just read the article accompying the page, as I have always wondered about the finer points of the transnote functionality.

Greetings. This looks like an uber-cool gadget. I have a question. I use my x200t (and before my x41t) mostly for presentations, where I can ink on PowerPoint, pdf's, etc., and also as an e-reader, where I can annotate on pdf's, doc's, and other. My main issue with using a tablet for this is weight and bulk. Would this be an appropriate replacement for those purposes? How light is this thing? What is the battery life? I am aware that I would give up a lot of processing power and storage by switching, but the apps I use do not demand that much power. In any case, i am willing to sacrifice power for portability/battery life. Any insight would be great.

Welcome to thinkpads.com!

The Transnote is a 10 year old system which by today's standards is vastly obsolete. Here's some information:

http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... TYTHQ.html (Brief system specs)
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... TYSWX.html (Overview)
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site. ... TCMCT.html (HMM)

One possible problem would be finding an appropriate operating system and application programs that both supports the usage you need (e-reader, .PDFs .DOCs, etc.) and can run on the 320MB, PIII system architecture.
