Re-install Office 2010 Enterprise

#1 Post by Yahdie » Sun Feb 13, 2011 4:30 pm

I got a new X201t from Lenovo Outlet; they ran out of the specific model I ordered and shipped me an upgraded version which had Office 2010 Professional Plus Enterprise installed (I didn't order it with Office).
Here is the problem, I re-installed Windows 7 so that I would only have the stuff I wanted, however this got rid of Office.
Is there anyway I can request a Product key from Lenovo? Obviously, if I have to go out and purchase it (as I was expecting to do in the first place) no big deal but if I could get it free and legit......

I haven't purchased a machine from Lenovo with extra Microsoft software added on, but I have from Sony. When my machine arrived, it came with documents which included the COA for the added software. Check through all your paperwork from your purchase -- possibly you missed the MS Office COA included with your purchase.

If you don't find the COA with your paperwork, and your machine is still under Warranty, call Lenovo and ask them for the COA number -- I would guess it is attached to your particular machine. Failing that, find out from Lenovo how much for a restore disk set which would include the MS Office you purchased.

That might be worth a try, nothing ventured, nothing gained, right?

A program like Jellybean would have found the product key/activation code...but now it is too late. The phone call should work.

Also, check in the battery compartment...might find it if you are lucky.

I used Jellybean, and got a key, but for some reason when I tried to insert that key during the Office re-install it refused it.

Call Lenovo and ask for the key or media with a key.

Maybe because Microsoft shows it was already activated (in your first use/install) -- if you call Microsoft, tell them you are just reinstalling the software that came preinstalled on your machine, and that it is only installed on one machine.
