just got it - T43- X300

#1 Post by danny_isr » Mon Mar 21, 2005 4:39 pm

Just arrived this morning - on time !

i checked for pixels , didn't see any bad ones.

I notice the fan is on all the time. i'm sure there is a solution on this forum some ware . but i really dont have the time to search and find it.
I'm flying tomorrow , and basically i have only today to figure out if to keep it or not.

The CPU is not on max speed when i'm on batteries but still the fan is on.

except this issue , i like it ! light , thin , solid . excellent keyboard . good screen. fast. (mini review :) )

Thanks Danny

Is it the 14" display? How do you find the brightness and sharpness?

honestly, try not to worry about the fan, especially as there is no solution. But be sure to make sure your CPU is set to adaptive mode when on AC:

battery maximiser wizard -> right click your current scheme -> select change AC settings -> set CPU to adaptive.

this will improve the fan sittuation as it will keep your tp running cooler!

thanks for the reply
i guess you got the chinese keyboard, sanyo battery, and hydis lcd...another person has that model too.

i'm looking at 74u (same price as 71u but with ibm wireless card). I also want to know if anyone got the 4eu and what parts in that model

i just ordered the exact same model, the 2668 71u.. they said that the delivery date should be in about 10 days or so.. how soon after you ordered did you get it?

also, did it have a centrino sticker on it? the main reason i picked the 71U over the 74U is the fact that the 71U is centrino certfied b/c of the intel wifi card, vs. the 74U which has the ibm card..

can you please takes pics and post!! much appreciated!!

i'm gonna return the 2373 M3U i purchased two weeks ago as soon as possible now!

You can tell with the parts lookup and numbers in the FAQ in my signature.

I prefer the tactile feel of the Thai keyboard over the Chinese.

Some people say the Sanyo battery doesn't fit exactly, but I have one and it fits fine.

Have a nice trip to Azur. :)

I am the one who posted the specs of the T43 previously metioned. I have no problem with the lcd after I did some fine tuning with the ATI control panel. The Sanyo battery fits perfectly and charged up to ~5300mah, above specification. I am not sure what keyboard I have as I don't know the model number representing the Thai keyboard but I can say that I am more than happy with it. I am going to order the 9 cell battery and have already ordered the extra 512mb Sodimm. From order to delivery for me was 6 days with the free UPS Ground shipping option :)

5,300 mAh? I'm puzzled, since any new battery capacity must be a multiply of 2,000-2,400 mAh per cell. 5,300/2 = 2,650--but no battery in the world has such capacity! If it's a 9-cell pack, then 5,300/3 = 1,770 mAh/cell, i.e., serious battery trouble.

Something does not compute here... :?

i think craigg meant to say he got the 5300mha for his 6-cell battery....as we all know, the battery for the t43 is 10% better than the one for t42.

4800+480=5280mhA.

The 9-cell must be around 7300mhA

See FAQ in my signature. T42 6-cell is 4400 vs 4800 for T43. 9-cell is 6600 vs 7200.

Would it be possible to purchase the T43's 9-cell battery and use it in the T42 series notebook? I'm assuming form factor is the same?

4800mah is the rated capacity but the actual capacity is greater.

No, most people don't give a [censored] so it's not possible to request such things.
