got a card 91P7315 , I wasn't sure if this was correct but I was willing to give it a go, when removing the keyboard I realized I already had a card in place ,removed it , after installing the new card I powered on receiving a message invalid card etc,, took out the new card put in the old and this is where I am at , question is : can I use this card ? do I just need to use a different bluetooth program/driver ? thank you ttyl

Hi Dreamer and welcome to the forums!
your BT card 91P7315 is the recommended one for your model - see the Hardware Maintenance Manual page 199.
The driver you need is this one ( from this page).
Installation is a two stage process:
Download the driver and click on the .exe file. This will unpack in a new directory C:\...\... Carefully note where it unpacks to.
Go to that location and click on the setup (?) file which will install the driver.

Re: T40 Bluetooth Mother/daughter card
Assuming there is no antenna, you'll need to install one. It doesn't have to go behind the
screen, you can curl it up under the keyboard but there has to be something.
The original card was the modem, the new one is also a modem but with bluetooth it has
a single snap on connector for the antenna.
As poshgeordie said, you'll need to install the correct drivers before the laptop 'sees' it.
