After Uninstallation of Power Manager, what are the threshol

#1 Post by howto » Sun Feb 20, 2011 11:30 am

I have set the thresholds currently to 75 and 90% in Power Manager.

What happenes, when I uninstall the PM?

Will the battery be loaded to 100% or 90%?

I'm pretty sure the thresholds stay. I've reinstalled Windows and had the thresholds stay until I installed Power Manager on the new OS.

Thank you.
I uninstalled PM and it didn't load to 100%.

Another question:
What happenes, if I uninstall Power Manager and driver?

It is regarding my problems with the multiplicators and freezes.
Somebody said, uninstalling PM and driver should solve it, but uninstalling PM didn't do anything.

(I need it for university, so I will send it to Lenovo later)

Have you tried installing the AMD AHCI/RAID driver from wikidrivers? It seemed to cure the freezing issue for me.

Did it successfully replace the Generic SATA device in Device Manager?

Load Process Explorer and run it. Look for watch relevant indicators when it freezes.

Yes, it has been replaced.
Process Explorer does not show anything, the x100e freezes before PE reacts.

I forgot to say that: It is not always freezing.
Sometimes I get a BSOD.

Are you using RMClock to undervolt? If so, you might have it set a bit too low.

I dont think so.
voltage was 0.8 volts, which is enough for the highest clock.

Does 0.8v at 8.0x sustain IntelBurnTest? I know mine has to be 0.85v for 8.0x or it'll crash occasionally.

Could installing a retail version of Windows 7 alleviate the freezing issue?

I dont want to open a new thread:

What are the disadvantages in unsinstalling (not installing) powermanager and driver?

Uninstalling Power Manager prevents you from setting some ThinkPad specific power configurations that the Windows Power Options applet doesn't know how to set.

Uninstalling the Power Management driver is not recommended. It controls a fair number of things from hotkey brightness to certain power saving features on devices.

Another tangent:

Have you all noticed any difference with undervolting? What does the processor normally run at?

I get a good 5 hours of usage out of my X100e with undervolting. If I really push the screen brightness, it might go for 5.5 hours.

Undervolting makes it run cooler, for sure. Can't remember the stock voltages for the MV-40 off the top of my head, but there was definitely some room for mine.
