Certain frustrating things happen ...

#1 Post by Tõnis » Tue Feb 22, 2011 1:27 pm

For example, if I go into my monitor settings and set the refresh rate for 60hz, I'll sometimes go back and look at it, even after rebooting, only to find that it has reverted back to 50hz. Why is the system taking it upon itself to do this??? :??: It's not happening all the time, but it is happening on occasion and on power manager profiles that don't call for a reduction to 50hz at any time.

Wild guess: have you got your clock/time set to a European timezone, where they would have 50Hz?

It's a good guess, RBS, but no. I'm on GMT-5.

Tonis,
When you go into the Advance Settings of the Display Properties, see if there is a tab for a Control Panel for your graphics drivers. I had a similar problem with my desktop and had been using the Monitor tab of Display Properties to set the Refresh Rate and that setting would keep changing back. I finally used the Control Panel tab which was available for my NVidia drivers and set the Refresh Rate from in there. Once that was done, the setting remained unchanged.

Thanks, Dale. It does have that, and I'll give it a shot. I never even knew that was there.
