It will work in the T40. I just installed and activated the exact same card in my T40 a few minutes ago. You have to uninstall Access Connections and use Intel PRO/Wireless 2915ABG driver. After driver install, at first the card wouldn't turn on. Clicked "repair" in the status screen. Laptop saw the connection but couldn't connect. After uninstalling "Access Connections" all was well. Am getting the 54Mbps (instead of 11Mbps) speed when I hover over the wireless icon and 13Mps download & 4Mbps upload speed checking with Speedtest. Before, I was getting less than 5Mbps download using the 802.11b card.
