Word 2007 Crashes after waking up T60 ...

#1 Post by jeffreyrichard » Sat Feb 26, 2011 11:16 am

I am running into periodic crashes of Word on my IBM Thinkpad T60 which I just rebuilt (flattened and reinstalled OS). I have Windows XP Home Edition v 2002, SP3 running, and I have MS Office 2007 Home and Student. I also installed Outlook 2007.

The crashes occur after I wake up my machine after hours of inactivity ... either in the "sleep mode" (the moon icon), or just the screen saver (must sign back into my user account) ... both situations. Upon awakening, I get a message telling me Word experienced a problem and must shut down. No other programs running experience problems (usually Outlook and IE).

I just ran (prior to posting) Office Diagnositics ... 1 problem was detected and fixed (in Setup Diagnostics). Don't know if this will fix the problem.

I also ran into this issue on my older Thinkpad t40 ... same software (exactly ... XP Home SP3 and the same Office programs from the same CD). Office Diagnostics told me there were more significant problems (hard drive & compatability) ... not using that machine now.

Any thoughts?

You could try a re-install and see if that solves the problem - Otherwise I am pretty blank :D
