about new x120e

#1 Post by kazaaerato » Sat Feb 26, 2011 7:59 pm

Gentlemen:

How to buy this new model with best discount available? I'm in the U.S. and is looking for discount of at least 20%. I got my T510 last year with this discount during the holiday season....

Also, can I ask the them not to install Win 7 in order to save some money?

They did have a sale the other day where hey were offering the X120e DOS, but it ended abruptly. They don't usually offer machines without Windows. You'll probably have to wait it out if you want discounts.

Best offer right now is around 15% off, using Lenovo SPP the price is about 5% cheaper, x120e starts at $379, components and accessories are discounted to the same extend. Then there is the USPX120E which take another 10% if you configure the machine to be $499 or above. Accessories purchase on the same order count toward the $499 requirement but will not get the 10% discount. I configured mine to be a E350 equipped base unit with a 6 cell battery as accessory, the total is about $462 plus tax.

The best public deal on the X120e is 10% off and you won't see it above that for quite a while. Even the X100e only saw >10% as it was on the brink of discontinuation. The small, cheap laptops simply don't have the profit margin to much above that.

Private purchase programs like EPP and SPP can be a bit cheaper, but of course you have to have legitimate access to those.

Here's the best deal on the X120e right now: $359 after 10% coupon.

And no, they won't sell a model without Windows. Also, it sounds like you might not live in the U.S. permanently. Be aware that the base warranties that come with some systems don't cover international warranty. I know that most ThinkPads are included, but models like the Edge and X120e may not. You should research this first if you're expecting warranty service outside the U.S.

They just changed the base price config, now you get 320G 7200rpm HDD plus 6-cell battery for $399, upgrade to E-350 and use the 10% off GOOGLESHOP coupon code you end up paying $395+tax. Way better deal than anything they previously had (other than the first day no-OS option deal), I haven't even received mine yet but already jealous about people who got it today at this price. Since they don't offer the lower spec config anymore, Lenovo has refused to gave me a price adjustment. :(

it seems they offer a w/e special, with 3yrs OnSite for FREE ('You may be eligible to receive this upgrade FREE. Call ...)
also, there is no more a/b/g/n WiFI option (broadcom instead of dreadful realtek).

curious, the shipping estimate is 17 business days !

the best deal is the third config, with E350, w7x64 Pro, 4GB for $529, cheaper than the 2nd config, with $40 extra for w7 Pro, and $80 for the 2nd 2GB stick ($569).

So, no more 250GB/320GB 5400, or 160GB 7200, only the 320/7200rpm which wasn't even an option at the end of february when I ordered mine.
Could this be the 1platter 7mm drive as in the X220 ?
